Visit this iconic, all-wood castle standing right by the sea. Walk through the sprawling pavilion while learning about the philosophy, art, and timeless woodwork techniques used in its construction.
The Sanctuary of Truth is an architectural masterpiece and one of Thailand's most breathtaking hand-carved structures. Standing 105 meters tall on the oceanfront of Cape Ratchaveat in North Pattaya, it is an all-wood castle constructed entirely using ancient Thai joinery techniques—without using a single metal nail.
- Architectural Marvel & Artistry: Every square inch of the sanctuary, inside and out, is covered in intricate wood carvings depicting gods, mythical creatures, and traditional motifs from Thai, Hindu, Buddhist, Chinese, and Khmer traditions.
- Living Philosophy: Initiated in 1981 by Thai businessman Lek Viriyaphan, the building represents the cycle of life, human responsibility, and Eastern philosophy. It remains an active working site where local woodcarvers continuously work to detail and maintain the structure.
- Visiting Experience: Visitors are provided safety helmets upon entry due to ongoing craftsmanship. Guided tours are included with entry, detailing the artistic symbolism, traditional woodworking tools, and philosophical concepts behind each hall.
Head up to the hilltop sanctuary to pay respect to the giant golden Buddha, soak in the tranquil atmosphere, and snap photos of the Pattaya skyline.
Pay respect to the golden Buddha at the top, Luang Pho Yai, was built in 1977 and was for years the largest Buddha image in Chonburi Province. The hill it sits on, Pratumnak, is the highest natural point in Pattaya, which means the terrace beside the statue gives you a genuine 360-degree view over the bay, Jomtien Beach and the island of Koh Larn. There is no entrance ticket, no turnstile and no fee of any kind.
